REVIEW

Math is a subject that a lot of children struggle with and so they often complain about why they have to learn it at all.  They just don't see the point of learning it.  This book takes an exciting, interesting career and demonstrates the use of math within that career.  Flying a jet sounds exciting to many young readers yet they don't realize that a solid education especially math is required.  Not only is this book full of information about what jet fighters need to be able to do but is chock full of math problems related to those skills.  The information needed such as formulas and such are provided and then story problem questions are presented with the answers provided at the back of the book.  I was so intrigued by some of the questions that I almost sat right down to figure out the answers.  This book would be great for use in math class especially for home schoolers or for children who have particular interest in the subject, either math or flying a jet.  Highly recommended.

REVIEW

The number of crime shows on television these days makes it clear just how popular the topic of crime solving is with many viewers, young and old alike.  This book presents a bunch of math problems within the context of solving a burglary giving the reader a chance to figure things out while also demonstrating the importance of math in this career field.  Not only would the book be useful in math classes but it's also bound to draw in readers who are interesting in the career as well as students who love math.  A great new series that I can highly recommend.
